There is only one way to experience much of the Adirondack wilderness, and that’s on foot. The Forest Preserve boasts more than 2,000 miles of scenic hiking trails accessing all manner of remote and beautiful locations. Our guides have spent thousands of days collectively on many miles of those trails, and are here to help keep you safe and educate you about all the incredible places you can get to in the Adirondacks.
These experiences last around 4 hours and can take you to the tops of some beautiful smaller mountains, into gorgeous lakes or to exquisite waterfalls. A great introduction to hiking for those new to the trails, or a great short adventure to round out your stay in the Adirondacks.
Our full-day hikes generally last between 7-9 hours, depending on the route. Full-day hikes offer opportunities for more challenging terrain and more remote locations, allowing you to experience the full impact of the Adirondack wilderness. For those looking to summit one of the 46 Adirondack High Peaks, this is the one for you.
We also offer Extended Day Hikes, which last longer than 10 hours, cover more than 15 miles, or are more invested by nature. These include some of the more difficult High Peaks (Cliff and Redfield, Allen, Santononis, Sewards, for example) and Slide Climbs. Thes trips are not for beginners, so request a Guide (link) to speak with one of our trip coordinators to determine if this is a good option for you!
Hikes don’t have to be extreme to be rewarding and beautiful! The Adirondacks is full of family-friendly hiking options, as well. We will work with you to develop an itinerary that suits your needs and interests, and delivers the perfect experience for your family.
A perfect way to cap a day in the Adirondacks! Our guides have selected a handful of easy-to-access, remarkable spots to watch the sun set over lakes, rivers, and mountains. And not to worry, we have plenty of headlamps for the hike out.
For those who want a wilderness hiking experience longer than a single day, backpacking is a great way to expand your adventure into a multi-day wilderness immersion. This option is for you if you’re hoping to both hike and camp, perhaps summiting some peaks or thru-hiking from point to point. Popular options include parts (or all) of the Northville-Lake Placid trail or theCranberry Lake 50. Talk with one of our guides to learn more!
Not all campsites in the Adirondacks require long walks to get to! If you’re new to camping and would like to learn from professionals, we can make your camping experience one-of-a-kind! These experiences include camp-cooking demos, sleep system reviews, camping best practices, and necessary gear rentals.
While we are excited to provide you with other necessary gear, we ask that you come with your own clothing. Think base layers, shorts/pants, shirt, socks, etc. During the summer, some cotton layers are ok, but synthetic (poly/nylon) or light wool are the best for heat and moisture management.
Our pricing is based on the types of adventure, gear to be used, length (time & mileage), and the number of people on your trip. Pricing is subject to change based on your specific trip details. If you have questions or concerns about pricing, please contact us directly!
*Please note that a 3% processing fee will be added to credit card payments.
